I, like many others, would argue that hockey is an art form just as much as it’s a sport. With this blog, I want to expand the beauty of hockey to others who might be overwhelmed by learning all the intricacies themselves.
Though my not-so-subtle goal is to make everyone fans of the Canes, I also want to illustrate that sports journalism should be for anyone. Not only am I in an area that isn’t very appreciative of hockey, but I am also a woman. Women in sports industries face many obstacles, especially as reporters and broadcasters. For many years, my dream has been to be in the broadcast booth, calling an NHL game, and I refuse to let these obstacles stop me. I want this blog to show other girls like me that their dreams shouldn’t have to come with discrimination or judgment, and that they should be celebrated instead.
